Is Barnet Council at war with the borough’s young people? (‘Community projects cash remains unused’, Times Series, July 24.) This paper reported on the pot of money earmarked for community and youth projects which Barnet is refusing to give out to the groups clamouring for funding — £20,000 for recreational projects sitting in the coffers; £16,000 for green spaces sitting in the coffers.

In response to Dr Gutmann’s letter (‘Schools are doing well’, Times Opinion, July 24), I believe it is important to note that the national press reports of government statements about schools leaves much to be desired, as schools minister Jim Knight MP told Hendon secondary heads at the meeting I organised for them to meet him a couple of weeks ago.
